These grilled sweet potato fries have a little kick and are perfectly tender in the middle and crispy on the outside!
Sooooo sweet potato fries. Kind of madly in love with them. Not kind of, more like seriously madly in love. Recently Ali over at Gimme Some Oven posted some grilled sweet potato fries and as soon as I saw them in my heart of hearts I knew I needed to make some prontissimo. About 22 minutes later these scrumptious little babies were in my mouth. These ones have a bit of a kick to em, because I’ve got a huge thing for spicy anything and everything. Don’t fear the spicy, you will love it and I promise it won’t burn your tongue off. Pinky promise. Unless you’re my sister Kristy. She can’t eat anything with even a hint of spice so she doesn’t actually count. For the rest of you, the promise still stands. And now would be the time when I insert a confession. See, I cook in the morning because as food bloggers pretty much our entire life revolves around the sun. Wait. That’s actually true for everyone since our planet revolves around the sun. Okay but our day actually does revolve around the sun in that we make quesadillas and cake and caramel cashew clusters and grilled sweet potato fries at 10 in the morning. Nothin like ice cream for brunch eh? But that’s not the confession. The confession is that sometimes I make things at 10 in the morning and I haven’t eaten breakfast. So I end up eating what we are supposed to be having for dinner for brunch instead and then my husband gets cold cereal and I’m avoiding his gaze like, I have no idea where all of the food went, it was right here this morning…. Lies. I ate it all. And what’s worse is he knows it! As if I could hide it. When a post like that goes live it only takes about 2 point 3 seconds for my iPhone to *ding* with an email including a photo of the new recipe and a subject line that says “why did I not get any of this???* Bad wife award. But really, they’re fries, I can’t be blamed. I am pathologically programmed to partake of french fry goodness at any and every opportunity. And husband sort of gets this, or at least he is used to it, so he usually forgives me for the foods he never gets to try. So these grilled fries, they’re genius, and I attribute that genius 100% to Ali because it was her recipe that made me realize I could boil these fries and then grill them and the whole thing takes about 20-30 minutes tops. Say whaaaa?? Yeah so the whole having to cook them for a million years until they fiiiiinally get tender, it’s not happening here. Thank goodness. I need fries mucho fast, I’m up there with the most impatient peeps in the world when it comes to french fries. And also those dang stop lights at midnight that never change to green even there is no one around for a hundred miles. Kills me every time.
