Garlic Herb Roasted Turkey is so easy to make, so tender, so juicy, and so delicious it'll soon become your go-to turkey recipe. Top with cranberry sauce or gravy to take it to the next level!
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 50 minutes
Resting Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
Servings:8 servings

Ingredients

  • 7 pound bone-in turkey breast, (see notes for boneless turkey breast)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cracked black pepper, or 1/4 teaspoon finely ground pepper
  • cup butter, (6 tablespoons) softened
  • 3 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped thyme
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley
  • zest of 1 orange

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Pat turkey dry with paper towels (be thorough). Season with salt and pepper all over.
  • In a small bowl combine softened butter, garlic, rosemary, thyme, parsley, and orange zest. Mash and stir with a fork until combined.
  • Spread butter mixture all over the top of the turkey breast. Place in a roasting dish and tent with foil.
  • Bake in a roasting pan or baking dish for about 45 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees.
  • Remove foil, switch oven to broil and continue to cook about 5 minutes until turkey is browned.
  • Rest on a cutting board for 10-15 minutes before carving.
  • Carve and serve with gravy or cranberry sauce.

Notes

Using Dried Herbs: substitute 1/2 teaspoon each dried parsley, rosemary, and thyme, OR 1 1/2 teaspoons Herb de Provence or Italian blend dried herb mix.
Boneless Turkey Breast: A boneless turkey breast of equal size to a bone-in will typically require more cook time as its thickest part is thicker than that of a bone-in turkey breast. Plan on adding another half hour to the cook time and checking the temperature every 10 minute or so (or keep an-oven safe turkey thermometer in while it cooks) until the temperature reaches 160 degrees.
