Ingredients
3cups(12 ounces) penne noodles, cooked according to package directions
1poundground Italian sausage , hot or mild
1tablespoonolive oil
24ouncesmarinara sauce
1teaspoongarlic powder
1teaspoonItalian blend herb seasoning , or Herbs de Provence
1cupheavy cream
1 - 1 ½teaspoonssalt, to taste
cracked black pepper , to taste
Instructions
Drizzle oil into a skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage and brown for 5-8 minutes, breaking apart into small pieces as it cooks.
Stir in marinara sauce, garlic powder, Italian seasoning and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Stir in heavy cream. Stir in cooked penne. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Garnish with fresh herbs like basil or thyme if desired and serve.
Notes
Heavy cream swap: easily sub out the heavy cream for a fat free half and half or other milk. Thicken it up with a simple corn starch slurry of 1/4 cup water + 1 T corn starch whisked til dissolved. Stir into bubbling pasta sauce til thickened. Expert tip: stir in 1 cup of fresh baby spinach!Serving suggestion: garlic bread and tossed salad. Garnish it: top it off with fresh basil, grated parmesan cheese, and cracked black pepper.
