Best Blue Cheese Dressing

My Best Blue Cheese Dressing recipe is extra creamy and way better than store-bought! Use it as a dip for crudités and hot wings or toss it with your favorite salad!
Prep Time10 minutes
Chilling Time30 minutes
Total Time40 minutes
Course: Sauce / Condiment
Cuisine: American
Servings: 1 cup

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup light mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup buttermilk
  • 2 oz blue cheese crumbled
  • 1 tbsp snipped chives
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • salt to taste
  • cracked black pepper to taste
  • milk to thin, optional

Instructions

  • Combine the sour cream, mayonnaise, buttermilk, blue cheese, chives, lemon juice and garlic powder in a small bowl and beat with a fork, mashing the blue cheese crumbles into the dressing as you go until the consistency is smooth with just a bit of texture from the remaining cheese.
  • Season to taste with salt and pepper. It should now be a dipping consistency for crudités. For a thinner dressing, thin with milk as required.
  • Chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to come together before serving.

Notes

  1. Plain yogurt can be substituted for the buttermilk in a pinch.
  2. For an entirely smooth dressing, blitz everything together in a blender or food processor, and stir in the snipped chives at the end.
  3. This dressing keeps covered in the fridge for up to 3 days.
