Three. <—– the number of times I have made these sliders in the past week.

baked Monte Cristo party sliders in a baking pan.

The first time I made these heavenly little things was for the Holy War. Aka: the Vegas Bowl played between my husband’s and my rivalry colleges. It was ultra tense in our house that day. We won’t discuss the outcome of that game, it’s still a sensitive subject for some of us.

Even though we root for opposing teams, we agree wholeheartedly on these little babies.

If you have never tried a famous Monte Cristo sandwich from Disneyland, you are SERIOUSLY missing out. Don’t worry though, that’s about to change when you whip these gorgeous little sliders up for your big New Years shebang next week!

Ingredients

  • 12 savory or sweet rolls, (see note)
  • 12 slices deli ham
  • 12 slices deli turkey
  • 12 slices swiss cheese
  • ½ cup butter , (8 tablespoons), melted
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons dijon mustard
  • 1-2 tablespoons tablespoons powdered sugar
  • raspberry preserves

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • Slice rolls in half horizontally. Place bottom halves (side by side, touching) in your prepared baking pan. (slide them all the way to one end, there will probably be some extra space on one side of the pan which is okay)
  • Distribute ham over the bottom half of the rolls. Next layer the turkey, then swiss cheese. Top with the top halves of the rolls.
  • In a bowl, whisk together melted butter, egg, and dijon mustard. Pour mixture over rolls. Cover loosely with foil (tent the foil so that it does not touch the tops of the rolls) and bake for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for 10-15 minutes longer.
  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with raspberry preserves.

Notes

*I have made this sliders using King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls and King’s Hawaiian Savory Rolls – both are amazing! Also, King’s rolls come attached which makes it easy to slice horizontally through the entire 12 rolls at once – BONUS!

Delicious, will be making again. Since Hawaiian rolls have soy, I used brioche. Yummy

  2. Dawne says:

Can you prepare these 2 days ahead then bake day of?

    1. Tiffany says:

They’re definitely best fresh but if you wanted to get some prep out of the way ahead of time it works great to just prep the sandwiches in the pan and make the sauce and chill it until you’re ready to cook and serve them. Then pour the egg sauce right over the top and pop them in the oven as if you had just made them – cuts out some of the prep time so you aren’t spending to much time the day of an event.

THoughts on putting the jelly on the bread? I think a monte crisco has it in the sandwich? Just wondering if there is a reason you didn’t include it in sandwich.

    1. Tiffany says:

I personally like to dip mine in jelly instead 🙂

If I make these for a bridal shower and they sit out for an hour or so before hand and get cold are they still good or need to be warm?

  8. Linda Flener says:

I made these last night for a women’s meeting at my home. There were many positive comments. Thanks for a recipe that was easy to put together after work and still “turn heads”.

  9. Corey Francis says:

Can you make these the night before and just heat up right before the party? Or is it best to make them right before party and heat?

    1. Tiffany says:

How would you serve this at a children’s party? I imagine you’d have to keep these warm somehow, but I feel like I would end up making them soggy if I kept foil placed over the pan…? And WOULD this be something you would serve at a kid’s party? lol

    1. Tiffany says:

Oh I would definitely serve these at a kids party – so easy to make and my nephews absolutely love them! How long are you needing to keep them warm? I’ve actually made these and then taken them to parties at other people’s houses and it worked great. They are really awesome fresh from he oven but I’ve served them at room temperature too and everybody still devoured them!
